RED RAINBOWFISH 7-8CM The Sunset Dwarf Rainbowfish is exclusively found in Lake Kurumoi, located on the Vogelkop Peninsula in Irian Jaya, Indonesia. Lake Kurumoi is a small body of water situated within the Yakati River system, nestled in mountainous terrain at an elevation of approximately 400m. In recent years, the water level has significantly dropped, and it currently sits well below its natural outlet, resulting in a lack of drainage. These fish are most plentiful in areas with dense vegetation near the shore. The Sunset Dwarf Rainbowfish is a small, tranquil species that thrives in planted community aquariums. It is best to have a spacious tank since these fish are quite active, and they should be kept in groups of six or more due to their shoaling behavior. Juvenile rainbowfish often appear somewhat dull compared to their adult counterparts, which can lead to them being overlooked in stores. However, once they acclimate to the safety of a planted aquarium, these young fish will start to develop their vibrant colors, gradually showcasing their breathtaking adult beauty. Sunset Dwarf Rainbowfish are not a threat to smaller tankmates, as their mouth and throat are too narrow to swallow them.
