Pink tail Chalceus 8-10CM The Pinktail Chalceus is a striking and lively fish, known for its elongated body and vibrant personality. This mid-to-top swimming predator features a stunning pink tail and large, shimmering silver scales that diminish in size towards its belly. A distinctive dark spot can be seen near its gill cover, while its fins display a gradient from deep red to soft orange or yellow. The upper part of its iris also showcases hues of orange to yellow. In their natural habitat, Pinktail Chalceus thrive in the oxygen-rich rivers of South America. They are notorious for their acrobatic leaps out of the water to snatch insects, making a secure aquarium with a tight lid crucial for their care. While they can adapt to various water conditions, they flourish best in aggressive setups of 55 gallons or more, equipped with excellent filtration and water movement. These fish are not picky eaters and will readily consume a variety of live foods, as well as frozen options, flakes, and pellets.
