Network Cory 2-4CM The Network Cory is commonly found throughout the lower Amazon River basin. This gentle species is perfect for a mature softwater aquarium and thrives best when kept in groups of five or more due to their shoaling behavior. However, they can be somewhat susceptible to barbel infections or erosion, making it crucial to provide a soft sand substrate instead of gravel, where waste can accumulate out of sight. Regular maintenance, including frequent partial water changes, is essential to keep these fish healthy. Ensure there are plenty of shaded spots created by driftwood, rocks, and dense plantings. Other peaceful species, like smaller pencilfish, tetras, and rasboras, make great companions, as their presence in the midwater encourages the Corydoras to be more visible. Additionally, Corys can breathe air through their intestines, so it’s important to leave a small gap between the water’s surface and the tank cover to allow them to surface for air, which they may do several times a day.
