Bumblebee Goby 2-3cm This small goby thrives in freshwater environments that are not influenced by tides, as well as in mangrove areas. Unlike its saltwater relatives, it prefers hard, alkaline water. For their aquarium setup, it’s important to have a well-established tank with a soft sand substrate. Using fine coral sand can help maintain the desired hard and alkaline water conditions, especially if your tap water doesn’t meet these needs. Incorporate plenty of hiding spots with smooth rocks, large shells, driftwood, and dense plants. Hardy species like Anubias and Vallisneria are great choices for tougher water conditions. Make sure the filtration is effective but the water flow is gentle. Regular small water changes are crucial to keep nitrate levels low, as this species is particularly sensitive to poor water quality. Occasionally exposing them to brackish conditions can be beneficial for their long-term health, and they can also thrive in low salinity aquariums. Known as the Schooling Bumblebee Goby, this species is more sociable than others in its family, so it’s best to keep a larger group of at least eight to distribute any territorial behavior evenly. Smaller groups may struggle, so ensure there are plenty of caves and crevices for them to explore. If you need real photos instead of the stock photo, please feel free to reach out to us.
