PEACOCK GUDGEON This vibrant fish, resembling a Goby, actually belongs to the Eleotridae family rather than the Gobiidae. It hails from New Guinea, an island renowned for its breathtaking array of fish species. Males can reach about 7 cm in length, while females are typically smaller, around 5 cm. The Peacock Gudgeon is known for its gentle nature and can coexist peacefully with other non-aggressive species, such as Rainbow fish. However, male Tateurndina ocellicauda may exhibit some assertive behavior towards females and other fish while guarding their eggs. Fortunately, this behavior is not harmful. The male takes on the responsibility of watching over the eggs until they hatch, but he may see the fry as a potential snack afterward. During this period, he remains in the cave and won’t venture out to eat, so it’s not unusual for a male to disappear for a few days. Initially, the fry will feed on infusoria, but as they grow, they should be given freshly hatched artemia nauplii. It’s important to note that the fry develop at a slow pace. To keep them healthy, offer a diverse diet since they are omnivorous. Pictures are of our fish in the shop all size are approx
