Murderer who stabbed his landlord to death has been sentenced to 18 years in prison, at Hove Crown Court today.
Alan Knight, 51 of Osmonde Close, Worthing has been found guilty of killing David Bond in his own doorway, after an argument broke out between the two on the 9th of August 2016.
Prosecutor Graham Smith said: “ a history of tension had developed between the two after Knight moved into Mr Bond’s home as a lodger in the latter part of 2015.”
He then went onto say that their disagreements related to relatively trivial matters around the house, like cleaning and feeding the neighbours cat.
It was also heard in court that David Bond had asked Knight to move out of the house by the end of the month.
Knight said that David Bond had turned up at his house drunk that night (9th August) and that he had ‘kicked my door and started being abusive.’
Previously Knight had sent messages to his girlfriend saying that he may kill him, but she thought he was joking. However, shortly after she then received images of Bond’s body via Whatsapp, it was heard in court today.
As soon as Knight had committed the murder he fled for 6 days, but ended up handing himself in to Fleetwood police station in Lancashire.
Judge Christine Laing QC said the killing was an ‘attack of incredible savagery’.
