Lemon Cichlid 4-6CM These fish are not a good match for living with small shell-dwellers. A Tanganyikan community tank for this species should be at least 4 feet long and have strong filtration, water movement, and oxygen levels. Coral sand or aragonite is the best substrate choice, as it helps maintain hard and alkaline water. Use rocks to create small ledges and many caves. Lemon Cichlids do not tolerate poor water quality, so make sure to do regular small water changes. Juveniles can be kept in groups of 8 or more, but adults usually prefer to be alone.
