Strongylodon macrobotrys – Blue/Turquoise Jade Vine (check back in summer)

Description I recommend for experienced gardeners only. Recommended only if you have a greenhouse or live in a very tropical climate. Customer assumes all risks; no refunds or replacements as we cannot produce this plant in quantity and it is rare. Commonly known as jade vine, emerald vine or turquoise jade vine. This is a rare vine that puts on a stunning display of unusual, dangling/cascading, turquoise, one foot long flowers. The blue-green flowers are claw-like. Just spectacular and one of the most interesting flowers! FAMILY : Fabaceae ORIGIN : The Philippines TYPE/USES : evergreen woody climber MATURE SIZE : up to 50′ vine LIGHT REQUIREMENTS : full to partial sun WATER REQUIREMENTS : average MIN. TEMP. : avoid freezing temperatures, cold sensitive FLOWER : winter, spring when mature Since we grow our tropical plants outside, they may not have perfect leaves and may have “blemishes” just like they do in their natural habitat. The spots are not a disease and will not affect the plants health. The new growth should be clean if you grow your plants in a different climate although I recommend this vine for outdoors in tropical locations or if you have a greenhouse only.
