I bought these Mylar bags because they were described as being made for MREs, which are usually rehydrated by pouring boiling water into the bags. Some of the comments said they worked fine for that use. Yet right on the bag containing them it clearly stated that scalding water WAS NOT TO BE USED! Let’s be consistent.That being said, they are definitely 7 mils thick. In fact, they are so thick I wondered at first if my impulse sealer was actually sealing them – however, it was. The seam just doesn’t look the same as it does on most other bags.Overall, I like the size and shape. I was able to fit 4 cups of freeze-dried food into these, and expect them to easily serve 2 or 3 people.
