I purchased this for a bench that had a 2″ recess in which a cushion is set. I wanted the cushion to sit above the recess, and to not feel the wood of the bench when sitting and compressing the foam. The density of the foam is excellent. It’s comfortable enough to lay on while also holding its shape well enough that when the top 3″ is sat on, you don’t feel the wood of the bench. It arrived in perfect condition, well packaged and rolled very tightly (it won’t take up a lot of space while you’re waiting to use it for your project).Cutting tip: I used a bread knife to cut the foam. I measured out and marked a line along the length of it where I needed to remove several inches. I put a piece of cardboard underneath the cut line so the knife wouldn’t touch my floor. I set the bread knife at a 45 degree angle and cut a ~1/4″ deep line over the full length of my sharpie line, scoring the foam. Then I went back over that line again with the knife at the 45 degree angle to cut a little deeper. I dragged the knife the full length and did not saw. When you continue to draw the knife over the same cut, it sinks deeper into the foam along your line without tearing or chunking, and keeps a straight line. I probably went over the line 5-6 times before my knife cut through the bottom and dragged along the cardboard.
