Zebra Otocinclus The Zebra Otocinclus is a stunning little Loricariid that makes a perfect addition to a tranquil softwater planted aquarium. In its natural habitat, it thrives among thick vegetation along the edges of clearwater creeks. This gentle fish is best kept in larger groups (6 ) within a well-established aquarium that offers plenty of shady hiding places among plants, driftwood, and slate caves. Ideal tankmates should be of similar size and temperament, such as smaller tetra and Corydoras species, or dwarf cichlids like Apistogramma and Mikrogeophagus. It’s important to avoid pairing them with more aggressive tankmates during feeding times, as these timid little catfish may struggle to compete. Like other Otocinclus, this species can be quite sensitive when first imported, so always make sure new arrivals are well-rested, and quarantine any new additions to help them acclimate properly before introducing them to the main aquarium.
