Designed as an invertivore food, this is perfect for catfish that love eating insects. Whilst many of these fish will survive on fish-based flakes or tablet food, they can really thrive on a insect diet packed with protein and fat sources. For use, mix one part powder into three parts water, and stir until blended. Put in the microwave until the mixture starts to boil, then remove and stir. Alternatively, you could bring water to a boil on the stove, and then add this to the powder. Let the mixture cool, and poor into a storage container or mold, and let it sit at room temperature until firm. This finished gel can then be cut to strips, whatever size you require for your fish, and whatever is not used then should be stored sealed in a fridge for up to two weeks, or in the freezer for up to six months. For plecos and other similar species, this can be made into a slow release Jerky, by taking the strip of set gel, around 0.25 inch thick, and completely dry out in an oven at 150°F, taking around 8 – 12hours. This jerky strip can be fed as required, allowing long time grazing.
