Generally Barbs are hardy and make good aquarium inhabitants especially when kept in larger schools of 5 or more. Barbs do best in a tropical aquarium of at least 50L, kept at 25-27°C, with a pH of 6.0-7.0 and KH of 5. However, will not handle a dramatic change to their environment. Because of this they should not be kept with fish such as smaller tetras, angelfish, gouramis and guppys.
