Review on the latest natural disaster movie, known as San Andreas.
If you’re into action packed movies then this movie is certainly ideal for you, as throughout it you get to see not only L.A. being destroyed by an earthquake of a 9.6 magnitude, but San Francisco as well.
The movie focuses on two different main characters one being Ray, played by The Rock Dwayne Johnson, who tries to save his ex-wife and daughter from the natural disaster.
Lawrence Hayes is the other main character, played by Paul Giamatti, who’s an expert in earthquakes. Therefore his role in the movie is to explain what’s actually happening when the San Andreas plate moves, and he keeps us informed on whether or not there are going to be any more earthquakes. At one point in the film he says: “ The Earth will literally crack and you will feel it on the East Coast.” Great!
There’s also a surprising glimpse of Kylie Minogue, though extremely brief – she is only on screen for about 5 minutes- however, it’s nice to see that she’s gone back to her acting roots.
Earthquakes aren’t the only disaster that happens in this movie as San Francisco is shortly hit by a Tsunami. Like I said it really is an action packed film and it will keep you on tender hooks the whole way through with its gripping story-line!
However, at some points it did seem a little bit far-fetched, as even though Ray’s (Dwyane Johnson) helicopter engines failed he still managed to find something else to fly, and to be honest I think if it was a real life situation him and his family wouldn’t have made it out alive!
If you’re a little bit squeamish, like me, then some parts throughout this are a little bit gory, but it’s not too bad, you just might have to look away for a split second.
But when everything was getting destroyed, for example when downtown L.A. and Hoover Dam was falling to pieces, it did look very life-like and the graphics used to portray this were amazing, and you couldn’t fault them one bit!
Overall I must say there wasn’t a boring moment in this movie, even though some parts did seem like a little bit of a miracle. However, I would happily go and see this movie again and I would highly recommend it!
